AirAsia Malaysia celebrates another milestone in its expansion strategy with its maiden flight to Perth, Australia.
The inaugural flight using AirAsia’s Airbus A321neo aircraft departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 2.10PM and landed at Perth International Airport on the same day at 7:50PM local time with a strong load of 95%. The excited guests onboard AK604 were given a warm send off by the AirAsia team, as they were handed exclusive merchandise-filled goodie bags.
From today onwards, AirAsia guests will have more options with great value fares to/from the capital of Western Australia increasing from seven currently, to 14 flights weekly. With this expansion to Perth, AirAsia reaffirms its commitment to democratise air travel to more destinations, further solidifying its position as Asia’s leading low-cost airline.
Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam said: “We’re truly excited to launch AirAsia Malaysia’s first ever route to Australia commencing with one of our most frequented cities in the country – the beautiful Perth – adding to our daily existing flights on this route operated by our medium-haul affiliate airline AirAsia X (AAX). Thanks to the addition of the new model A321neo aircraft with longer range capabilities spanning over five hours and numerous operational efficiency, we are able to make these new services a reality on a narrowbody aircraft from Kuala Lumpur so that more of our guests can travel to Australia affordably.”
