New Delhi – The IAF has released 119 conditional air routes for civilian flight operations. Around 40% of the airspace was unavailable for civilian flights which made commercial flights take longer routes. Commercial flights taking longer routes burn more fuel and take more time leading to extra expenditure.
A conditional Route ( CDR ) is a route of a portion that can be planned or used under certain specified conditions only.
Additional CDR routes increase the availability of airspace for civilian airlines and also have the potential savings of ₹1,000 crores per year by commercial airlines.
